What you need to know
New Clients need to know a few things before beginning work. Office procedures are part of the preparation. It is your responsibility to verify benefits prior to the first appointment.
24 hours notice is required when canceling a session, otherwise you must pay for the missed session.
Payment is required at the time services are provided. You may owe a co-pay amount or the full fee for counseling sessions. If you plan to use insurance benefits to pay for counseling, please verify before your appointment:
- Your insurance deductible or your mental health co-pay amount
- The # of visits you are given
- The initial authorization or pre-certification number. Failure to obtain this may result in denied coverage by insurance. If your coverage is denied, you will be responsible for paying the full fee. (This step will save $$$)
- The address for filing mental health insurance claims
How to check your benefits
Call your insurance company using the 1-800 number listed on your insurance card. Let them know you are inquiring about outpatient mental health benefits. Often health insurance companies have a separate company for mental health coverage versus physical health coverage.
Determine whether Cathryn Heyman, M.A., L.P.C. is an in-network or out-of-network provider for your mental health benefits. If is it determined that Ms. Heyman is an out-of-network provider, then you will need to meet your plan’s deductible before insurance will begin paying a portion of the fee.
Verify your benefits. It is important to ask about the Deductible, Co-pay, Number of Visits allowed, and whether or not an Authorization Number is required BEFORE your first visit. This step can save you money.
Schedule an appointment by calling 512-965-8880. Most appointments are scheduled within 1 week and some are scheduled in the same day.
